Who We Are
The Answer is Balance.
Our Firm Story
The journey of Simonis Storm began in 1996, under the stewardship of Jean Simonis. At the time, known as Fleming Martin Namibia, a budding enterprise with a vision for growth. Little did anyone know, the trajectory would be shaped by the winds of change in the financial arena.
Our Heritage as Fleming Martin
The pivotal moment came in 1998 when J.P. Morgan Chase & Co, the American financial institute, entered the scene. With their acquisition of Fleming Martin internationally, the stage was set for a transformative chapter. The Namibian arm of the business was rebranded as J.P. Morgan Namibia, marking the beginning of a new era.
For Jean Simonis, this transition meant a shift from Namibia to Johannesburg, where he became part of the J.P. Morgan family. However, fate had other plans in store.
The birth of Simonis Storm
The aftermath of the 2001 global financial crisis brought about a seismic shift in strategy for J.P. Morgan. As part of their restructuring efforts, they made the decision to close smaller offices, including the one in Namibia. Jean Simonis was tasked with the task of overseeing the closure.
In a remarkable turn of events, Jean saw an opportunity amidst the chaos. Teaming up with Hendrik (Henk) Storm, a fellow J.P. Morgan colleague, they embarked on the venture to acquire the business they once worked for. Thus, Simonis Storm was born, with the names of its initial shareholders etched into its identity.
